Want an easy buttercream frosting to frost tops and sides of 8 or 9 inch layer cakes? You may want to try this.
BOB RECIPE: Butter Frosting
6 tablespoons butter
4 1/2 to 4 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
In large mixing bowl, beat butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add about half of the powdered sugar, beating well. Beat in the milk and vanilla. Gradually beat in the remaining powdered sugar, then additional milk, if necessary, to make frosting of spreadable consistency.
For light chocolate frosting, add 2 tablespoons powdered cocoa.
I use this butter frosting only with sponge or chiffon layer cakes.
